Inpatient Physical Therapist - PRN - Float Pool

Primary City/State: Network Operations Center. Inpatient Float Position with strong preference for NICU and Adult experience. Must be willing to work at a minimum of 3 medical centers within the HonorHealth network.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, administer, and oversee evidence-based physical therapy services for individuals with physical disabilities and/or functional limitations.
  • Promote goals of prevention of dysfunction, restoration of function, and/or reversal of pathology to enhance quality of movement and daily living skills.
  • Develop and update individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients/families to assist in returning to prior levels of function.
  • Implement treatment plans using skilled, evidence-based techniques, including therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, functional mobility training, activities of daily living training, and modalities.
  • Provide verbal and written instructions to patients, caregivers, and family members.
  • Maintain current knowledge of physical therapy techniques, continuing education, professional journals, and regulatory requirements (e.g., DNV, Medicare).
  • Evaluate patients per department policy, demonstrating sound clinical reasoning in synthesizing data and identifying treatment diagnoses.
  • Establish comprehensive treatment plans with measurable, functional goals and defined discharge plans.
  • Perform ongoing evaluations of patient responses to treatment and adjust care as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and current documentation, including evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, discharge summaries, and billing.
  • Confer with interdisciplinary teams to clarify treatment plans, discuss patient status, and provide feedback on discharge needs.
  • Communicate effectively with case managers, medical personnel, and other key stakeholders to optimize treatment outcomes.
  • Delegate appropriate patients to physical therapist assistants, supervise their care, and provide updated treatment plans.
  • Act as a resource for therapy-related issues to assistive personnel and staff from other departments.
  • Participate in departmental and interdepartmental meetings, in-services, utilization reviews, committees, and student preceptor/mentor programs.
  • Contribute to departmental process improvements, recruitment, and retention of staff.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy from an APTA-accredited university (required prior to employment).
  • Master’s or Doctorate in Physical Therapy from an APTA-accredited university (preferred).
  • Six (6) months of recent experience in a network float position (preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
  • Current Arizona Physical Therapist license or PT Compact License (required).
  • American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) certification (preferred).

Schedule

  • PRN (as needed), Day Shift: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.
  • Rotating holidays and weekends.
