Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of technical procedures involved in specimen procurement, processing, and evaluation.
  • Initiate special tests and procedures such as cytogenetics, general laboratory, Point-of-Care Testing, urinalysis without a microscope, phlebotomy, and specimen management.
  • Prepare and aliquot urine specimens, properly determining and labeling volumes.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, family, and medical personnel to resolve issues and ensure patient cooperation.
  • Register/accession patients/specimens, perform order entry, and maintain clinical laboratory records.
  • Maintain inventory of supplies, stock carts and hand trays, and perform routine maintenance as required.
  • Assist with word processing, office tasks, and maintaining office records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a structured phlebotomy training course and clinical rotation recommended for phlebotomy positions.
  • At least 2 years experience as a Clinical Tech I or certification as a Phlebotomist, along with achieving the required competency level for specified job responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.

Skills

  • Basic phlebotomy and specimen processing techniques.
  • Knowledge of medical terms preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Effective professional communication skills to interact with patients/customers.

Schedule

Monday - Friday, 12:30 p.m. - 9:00 p.m., and one in three weekends.
