Inpatient Palliative Physician Assistant

Responsibilities

• Provide holistic and supportive care for patients with advanced illnesses — primarily in oncology, neurology (stroke, dementia, etc.), pulmonary (COPD, respiratory failure, etc.), and gastrointestinal diseases.
• Part of a collaborative interdisciplinary team focused on improving quality of life and managing symptoms.

Requirements

• Experience with disease process
• Strong communication skills
• Experience with symptom management
• End of life care
• Advanced care planning

Qualifications

• Masters Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant School
• Current licensure by the State of Virginia as a Physician Assistant
• Absolute requirement for ACLS certification (only for LFM)
• Minimum of two (2+) years of progressive experience in area of specialization

Pay

• 8:00 – 5:00pm Monday - Friday
• 6 – 10 patients per day, a mix of new admits and follow up patients
• 2 Physicians and 4 APPs
• Calls – 1:4 one weekend a month and one weekday a week – calls are usually taken from home, will require coming to see the patient occasionally.
