Inpatient Hematology BMT Nurse

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse performs direct patient care within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act. Utilizes therapeutic communication in daily practice. Maintains a safe therapeutic environment. Identifies nursing problems as they relate to the individual needs of the patient. Plans individualized patient care while utilizing an interdisciplinary approach. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides care and coordinates participation that fosters the goals of the hospital’s mission and vision statement.

Qualifications

• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• Registered Nurse license
• ONS Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Certificate Provider, or ONS Chemo / Biotherapy Fundamentals Provider, or Registered Nurse Diploma, or Bachelors Degree, or Associate Degree must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date.

What You Will Do in This Role

Deliver phenomenal care for adult hematologic-oncology, autologous and allogeneic blood and marrow transplantation patients, and patients receiving CAR T-cell therapy. Provide services such as chemotherapy/biotherapy administration and management, including investigational protocols, transfusion of blood, platelets and fresh frozen plasma, management of patients with radiation implants, central venous access devices and spinal drains. Specialize in Hematology Oncology and Transplant Cellular Therapy including stem cell transplants and CAR T-cell therapies. Recognize that oncology is a highly specialized skill and float between medical oncology and BMT unit.
