Inpatient Dialysis Patient Care Technician

About the Role

Provide safe and effective hemodialysis therapy as part of the healthcare team, ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Assist in patient care under RN supervision, maintaining a safe environment.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and meet productivity goals.
• Set up and prime dialysis equipment, with documented competency.
• Greet patients, evaluate vascular access, and monitor vital signs and weight.
• Perform vascular access cannulation and manage dialysis machine programming.
• Ensure safety alarms are active and record treatment data accurately.
• Initiate and discontinue renal replacement treatments, collect specimens, and respond to intradialytic issues.
• Assess and intervene in patient responses, monitor vascular access, and evaluate patient status before and after treatment.
• Perform post-treatment evaluations and document accordingly.

Requirements

• Valid CCHT certification and high school diploma or equivalent.
• 1-2 years of related experience.
• Proficiency in patient assessment, equipment setup, and dialysis procedures.
• Ability to lift heavy equipment and assist with patient mobility, with accommodations as needed.
• Strong attention to safety, accuracy, and compliance with healthcare regulations.
