Inpatient Coder
Responsibilities
- Schedule / Shift: Flexible schedule, Hours per week: 40
- Key Duties:
- Review and assign accurate codes for complex inpatient medical records
- Ensure compliance with ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines and regulatory standards
- Analyze clinical documentation to support appropriate code assignment
- Maintain accuracy and productivity in a remote, production-based environment
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve coding discrepancies and improve documentation
Requirements
- Education: Relevant training in medical coding or healthcare field
- Licenses & Certifications: Certification through AHIMA or AAPC
- Skills: Strong knowledge of inpatient coding practices and guidelines, Ability to code highly complex inpatient charts accurately, Experience working in large health systems or academic/trauma center environments, Strong attention to detail and ability to meet productivity standards in a remote setting
- Additional Requirements: Minimum 3 years of coding experience, Experience working remotely, Experience coding for large academic or Level I trauma centers highly preferred, Recent experience coding complex inpatient charts for large health systems
