Role and Responsibilities
- Review medical documentation and assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Query physicians to clarify diagnoses and procedures when necessary.
- Utilize electronic encoder applications following coding guidelines and regulations.
- Perform peer reviews of coding audits and coders.
- Maintain a minimum coding accuracy of 98% while meeting productivity standards.
- Prepare reports and ensure compliance with federal, state, and payer regulations.
- Work collaboratively with managers and team members while adapting to changing procedures.

- Academic/Trauma Level 1 Hospital Experience
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of overall coding experience.
- At least 3 years of inpatient coding experience in an Academic/Trauma Level 1 facility.
- AHIMA credential (CCS, RHIT, or RHIA) required.
- Experience coding all inpatient service lines.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and payer regulations.
- Ability to interpret medical records and work independently.
- Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
- Must pass coding assessment with 80% or higher.
