About the role
Codes all diagnostic and operative information from the medical record using ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level 2 coding classification systems. Selects the DRG for each inpatient case, reviews DRG discrepancies from the fiscal intermediary to ensure appropriate per-case DRG assignment, and verifies and abstracts medical data to complete hospital-encounter abstracts. Corrects data as needed and ensures all abstracted and coded data comply with JCAHO, OSHPD, CMS, and regional/local policy guidelines.
Requirements
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA) credential
- Eligibility to obtain Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification
- Two years of continuous hospital coding/abstracting experience within the last five years

$32.00 – $40.00 per hour
