About the role
A position working between 20-29 hours per week (between 1000-1599 hours per year).
Responsibilities
- Deliver food and beverage service to guests to provide a world class in-room dining experience that exceeds guest expectations.
- Offer gracious hospitality and ensure all guests receive friendly, courteous and prompt service at all times following prescribed and established Biltmore service and Forbes standards.
- Answer Room Service phones, take and input guest orders, and process payment of all checks.
- Provide general support and assistance to the leadership, department, and company as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Previous serving experience required.
- At least six (6) months of related food and beverage experience in a fine dining/upscale setting and/or luxury hotel/resort.
- Demonstrated commitment to delivering world class guest service and anticipating and exceeding guest expectations.
- Excellent guest relation and communications skills are a must; should be comfortable and able to offer warm, sincere, and gracious hospitality to guests.
- Terrific attention to details.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced, guest service environment.
- Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to be proactive, exercise good judgment, and take initiative as appropriate.
- Ability to be professional in both appearance and demeanor in accordance with Biltmore standards.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements
- Lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 pounds.
- Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
- Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- The employee may work in a restaurant and/or kitchen environment.
Essential Job Duties
- Answer Room Service phone with 3 rings, using proper telephone etiquette.
- Take guest food and beverage orders, utilizing suggestive selling techniques.
- Accurately quote estimated time of delivery, monitor status and follow-up with guest if going to be delayed more than 5 minutes of time quoted.
- Setting up guests orders on table/tray according to Forbes standards.
- Ensure that all orders are complete, including appropriate condiments and silverware.
- Transport tables/trays from Room Service area to guest rooms, or Pool, ensuring all standards of food presentation are maintained.
- Anticipate guests’ needs, respond promptly to requests.
- Maintain positive guest relations at all times.
- Open and service wine/champagne bottles.
- Set up and deliver amenities to designated rooms and Chateau Tier Lounge.
- Remove guests trays/tables from guest rooms according to established standards.
Additional Job Duties
- Complete opening side duties as assigned, including: table setup, ensuring sufficient supply of silverware, glassware, and china-ware, and preparation of all cold food items.
- Complete closing side duties, including: restocking butter, milks/creamers, yogurts, juices, sodas, and condiments.
- Remove all dirty linen, fold napkins, and empty coffee urns.
- Ensure all flowers and decorative items are fresh for guest use.
- Clean and reset tables/trays.
- Ensure appropriate authorization for all room and in-house account charges.
- Input charges for amenity orders and process all payment methods accurately.
