Responsibilities
- Observe all safety and environmental procedures and ensure safe work practices within the department.
- Provide leadership and coach production associates to ensure they understand and contribute to company objectives.
- Coordinate training of departmental employees; provide timely and constructive feedback regarding performance and communicate this information to the Plant Production Supervisor.
- Identify and assist in implementing cost-saving projects and efficiency improvement activities.
- Develop and implement plans to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance activities with support functions.
- Lead 5S efforts, stress good housekeeping, and safe work practices.
- Foster creativity, innovation, and communications within the production team.
- Be a mentor to promotable employees.
- Troubleshoot and assist in resolving processing problems with injection molding machines alongside technicians.
- Set up and start up molding machines and auxiliary equipment in the absence of a technician.
- Relay pertinent product and quality-related information to operators, inspectors, supervisors, and peers—both written and verbal.
- Accurately record and report waste and assist departmental supervision in maintaining inventory control.
- Diagnose tooling problems and perform minor repairs as necessary.
- Perform first-shot inspections and confirm the job is ready for production.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems with dies and barrel heats, mix plastic resin with colorants and additives, relieve operators at break times, and engage in material handling.
- Verify and monitor machine cycles and cavitation.
- Identify waste in the process and minimize downtime.
- Maintain clean working conditions in assigned areas and report any safety hazards immediately.
- Operate a forklift (stand-up & sit-down) safely; must pass Evenflo’s forklift training and obtain a license.
- Transport raw materials and finished goods to and from the molding area as needed for production.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as required by supervision, including answering operator, machine, or equipment alarms as needed.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
- Observe all safety, environmental, and quality system standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Three years of related experience and/or training preferred.
- Physically able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and move across uneven surfaces.
- Ability to stand most of the shift.
- Ability to recognize visual defects as defined by product specifications and know what to do if recognized.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively.
Physical Requirements
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
