Injection Molding | Process Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements manufacturing processes for the injection molding department.
  • Drives safety, continuous improvement objectives, quality control standards, and process activities for engineering technicians and process technicians.
  • Supports operations improvements and reduces operating costs.
  • Provides support and direction to Process Engineers, PE technicians, process technicians, and production personnel as needed.
  • Develops and maintains injection molding processes and new manufacturing methods.
  • Applies root cause analysis to solve problems and provides course of action for manufacturing issues, out-of-control processes, and quality discrepancies.
  • Gathers and analyzes data to guide improvement plans for key process indicators including quality, scrap, cycle time, and cost reduction.
  • Supports standardization of equipment and procedures to meet Utz Global and Fit-4-Future initiatives.
  • Supports new mold launches and samplings.
  • Keeps up-to-date with plant-wide system processes (i.e. Oni, Motan, etc.) and interfaces with various vendors for services, equipment, and capital improvement.
  • Maintains current documentation and develops new resources and SOP’s necessary to support process functions and maintain project deadlines.
  • Works closely with the Injection Molding Manager to create and drive employee development plans for applicable team members.
  • Provides on-site training for technical staff as needed as part of employee development.
  • Assists in maintaining machines and equipment.
  • Participates in a cross-functional team addressing issues, completing project goals, and developing improvement ideas.
  • Manages capital improvement projects, including selection, justification, quoting, and installation, within budgetary requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Technical, Engineering) preferred, Associate Degree considered.
  • 2 years of experience in injection molding process engineering or 7+ years of experience in injection molding process with aptitude to above requirements.
  • Must be able to communicate well with various team members and present information in a clear, concise manner to all aspects of the organization.
  • Must follow established company guidelines and perform duties in a satisfactory manner.
