Inhalation Senior Scientist, Formulation R&D

About the Role

The Research Scientist of R&D is responsible for designing and developing various inhaled dosage forms such as solution, suspension, gel, cream, ointment, and sterile products. This includes literature search, pre-formulation studies, prototype development, process scale-up, and optimization. The role involves creating relevant documents and managing logistics to execute projects in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

• Provide scientific leadership for the development of generic pharmaceutical inhaled dosage forms such as metered dose inhalers, DPIs, and sterile solutions/suspensions.
• Design and conduct pre-formulation studies and manufacture lab-scale batches to identify prototypes.
• Provide technical leadership to ensure timely execution of projects, including selection of raw materials, packaging components, formulation strategy, scientific development, and process scale-up.
• Apply Quality by Design principles in the design of experiments to develop robust formulations and processes.
• Write technical reports, protocols, batch records, and project presentations.
• Prepare ANDA submission documents such as product formula, manufacturing instructions, and product development reports.
• Provide creative and scientific solutions to resolve problems in complex projects.
• Analyze data and propose appropriate action plans.
• Work closely with inter-departmental groups and coordinate activities to execute projects on time.
• Delegate work to junior scientists, supervise them, and provide necessary training and guidance.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree (MS/MA) in Science – Required.
• Ph.D. in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy, Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field – Preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in pharmaceutical development demonstrating the application of scientific principles – Required.

Pay

The base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $115,000 per year. Amneal also offers a short-term incentive opportunity, such as a bonus or performance-based award, within the first 12 months. Individual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and other relevant skills.
