Accountabilities
- Leading transmission line engineering activities, ensuring high-quality designs, technical accuracy, and successful project execution.
- Designing high-voltage transmission lines ranging from 69 kV to 765 kV.
- Providing technical guidance, mentorship, and training to less experienced engineering team members.
- Cooking design activities to ensure installations and operations comply with client specifications, engineering codes, and project requirements.
- Preparing clear and concise technical reports, studies, calculations, and documentation aligned with client expectations.
- Performing independent technical reviews of engineering work, including calculations, drawings, and PLS-CADD-based transmission line models.
- Developing preliminary designs, design criteria, equipment selections, material specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Collaborating directly with clients on transmission projects and supporting technical discussions.
- Applying engineering procedures and quality standards to maintain consistent project delivery.
- Supporting the adoption of modern engineering tools, automation, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency and reduce rework.
- Guiding teams in the responsible use of automated engineering processes, including verification of AI-generated outputs and technical results.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- 12+ years of experience in transmission line design and engineering.
- Advanced proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
- Experience preparing specifications, preliminary designs, design bases, equipment and material selections, calculations, and technical documentation.
- Direct client-facing experience supporting electric transmission projects from 69 kV to 500 kV.
- Strong knowledge of engineering standards, including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Experience reviewing transmission design drawings and technical deliverables prepared by others.
- Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
- Able to mentor engineers and provide technical direction within a team environment.
- Familiarity with automation, scripting, or engineering productivity tools such as Python, MATLAB, or advanced Excel is a plus.
- Experience with ArcGIS, construction projects, or related infrastructure environments is preferred.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP certification are considered advantages.
- Additional education or certifications in computer science, artificial intelligence, software engineering, or related fields are valued.
