About the role
Metro Infectious Disease Consultants is seeking an Infusion Registered Nurse to work every other weekend at clinics in Overland Park, KS, and Lee's Summit, MO. Candidates must be willing to work at all listed clinic locations. This position offers competitive pay in a high-tech infusion setting within an office environment.
Schedule
Every other weekend — 26 weekends per year, including 2 holidays (plus the associated holiday weekend).
Responsibilities
- Access Peripheral Lines and teach infusion patients how to self-administer medications; document in the Medical Record.
- Review and chart daily laboratory results, communicating findings to physicians and/or patients as needed.
- E-prescribe new prescriptions and refills at the doctor’s order and communicate with pharmacies.
- Receive and return patient and other telephone calls.
- Review EMR charts for next-day appointments, order lab results, consult reports, and ensure all required fields are documented for meaningful use.
- Respond to telephone calls, meet patients in the office on weekends, and schedule patients as needed.
- Participate in quality assurance and educational activities as requested.
- Use clinical judgment to evaluate and meet patient care needs, establishing priorities.
- Monitor the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment.
- Facilitate good interpersonal communications with the facility.
- Arrange daily coverage with coworkers.
- Assist and consult with physicians in ordering procedures and diagnostic tests.
- Order laboratory tests per provider’s or standing orders.
- Perform follow-up on abnormal labs and medication refills as instructed.
- Maintain patient records, billing documentation, and all administrative records in the practice’s EHR.
- Administer immunizations, TB screening, medications, and blood draws consistent with current guidelines and established protocols.
- Support professional practice by adhering to Standards of Nursing Practice, JCAHO, state and local laws, and MIDC policy.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Practice Physicians and the Practice Administrator.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Current RN license.
- At least two years of RN office practice experience, preferably in an infusion-related practice.
- Infusion experience; PICC certification preferred but not required.
- Chemo experience preferred but not required.
- Proof of current vaccinations, including recommended boosters for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis A & B, influenza, and COVID-19 (requests for accommodations/exceptions considered on a case-by-case basis).
Pay
$60/hour.
