About the role

Delivers pharmaceutical care through the provision of patient-centered clinical service, medication information, education, medication preparation and distribution that ensures safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Responsible for ensuring safety in the compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusion drugs. Provides direct patient care, patient education, and actively participates in clinical decision making. Supports policy and program implementation to ensure safety of staff and patients during the preparation, administration, and monitoring of chemotherapy. Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety in the compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other infusion drugs.
• Provide direct patient care and education.
• Participate in clinical decision making.
• Support policy and program implementation for staff and patient safety during chemotherapy preparation, administration, and monitoring.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal regulations, codes, policies, and procedures.
• Perform basic inventory management duties.
• Utilize professional judgment and clinical expertise to solve complex problems and provide clinical information within the scope of practice.
• Carry out calculations and execute basic math skills for common dosage determination.
• Adapt to changes in the work environment or processes in a timely, positive, and effective manner.
• Work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
• Identify, evaluate, and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
• Build collaborative relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited pharmacy school (PharmD).
• Registered Pharmacist (RPH) within 120 days of hire.
• 3 years of recent relevant experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, generic and trade pharmaceutical names, pharmaceutical calculations, and laws and regulations.
• Comprehensive knowledge of current pharmacological/biopharmaceutical principles, pharmacotherapy, medical terminology, pathologies, disease states, and related information for a medical management plan.
• Knowledge of acute and chronic disease and its effects on patients and caregivers.
• Basic working knowledge of legal requirements and accreditation standards including NABP, TJC, Title XXII, DHS, DEA, FDA, and USP.

Skills

• General knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook), related pharmaceutical technology, EHR, and EPIC.

Pay

Pay range is $87.25 to $122.15 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.

Schedule

• Full Time (40 hours per week).
• Shift: Days, 8-hour shifts.
• Days of the week: Monday - Friday.
• Weekend requirements: As needed.
