Infrastructure Tech II

About the Role

Provide team leadership and supervision for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of structured cabling and low-voltage infrastructure systems.

Responsibilities

• Complete physical installations and removal of structured cabling components, cabinets, pathway systems (cable tray), equipment moves, racks, and related communications infrastructure materials.
• Supervise and perform installation and service of low-voltage category cabling, fiber optic cabling, communications cabling, and related systems (e.g., Category 5, Enhanced Category 5, Category 6, and fiber optic structured cable distribution systems).
• Evaluate, diagnose, and troubleshoot cabling infrastructure systems; perform repairs as necessary.
• Prepare bills of materials (BOMs) for materials and labor.
• Conduct infrastructure surveys and design projects.
• Execute project milestones and test plans.
• Complete project closeout deliverables, including test results, as-built documentation, pictures, and quality audits.
• Complete required documentation in written and electronic formats, such as time reporting for billing and payroll, work order progress, and client SLAs.

Requirements

• Associate degree or certification in a technology services/technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of combined experience in a Site Support Technician and/or Infrastructure Technician role (or similar experience).

Skills & Certifications

• CNET CNCI, BICSI Installer (INST1), BICSI Installer 2 (copper/fiber, INSTC/INSTF), or BICSI Technician (TECH) certifications.
• Manufacturer certifications (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license (may be required).
• Proven ability to install, terminate, and test low-voltage cables, including twisted pair, coax, power-limited tray cable, and fiber optic cable.
• Experience installing cable pathways, conveyances (e.g., ladder, trays, support systems), and through-wall penetration systems.
• Advanced knowledge of industry standards (BICSI, ANSI, EIA/TIA) and local/National Electric Code.
• Advanced knowledge of cabling infrastructure terminology and practices for telecom, data, security, and wireless systems.
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to read blueprints, architectural, mechanical, and electrical documents.
• Ability to read and interpret floor plans, wiring diagrams, and installation documentation.
• Physical ability to carry up to 30 lbs., lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and work from heights.
