Infrastructure & Ops Engineer II

About the role

Responsible for building, managing, monitoring, and operating DLA Piper’s infrastructure systems and environments. These systems support the firm’s applications and are critical to security, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives. The Infrastructure & Operations department enables the delivery of customer-facing IT services.

Location

This position can sit in any of our U.S. offices and offers a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities

• Builds, manages, monitors, secures, and operates the firm’s infrastructure systems and environments.
• Ensures global integration points, Cloud systems, and firm-wide systems are available and functioning properly at all times.
• Performs hands-on configuration and maintains system documentation.
• Participates and/or leads disaster recovery planning, implementation, testing, and validation.
• Manages vendor relationships.
• Performs daily monitoring and support of the firm’s systems and applications to ensure availability and stability.
• Participates in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
• Performs required maintenance to keep systems highly available, stable, and performing optimally.
• Proactively identifies needs for improvements, capacity changes, and upgrades.
• Plans and implements upgrades and patches to stay on current versions.
• Resolves escalated cases from other engineers and the helpdesk, including fault resolution and root-cause diagnosis.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience with Active Directory, computer storage, and networking.
• High School diploma or GED (Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred).

Skills

• Excellent scripting skills.
• Detailed technical knowledge of infrastructure products with experience in security configuration.
• Experience understanding performance, security, and application requirements to design appropriate solutions.
• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure Active Directory, DNS, WINS, DHCP, network topologies, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Unified Communications and Collaboration technologies.
• Senior technical skills to interpret and communicate between technical resources, ensuring precise requirements gathering and timely implementation.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for daily collaboration with staff at all levels.

Physical Demands

Primarily sedentary work, requiring occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects. Involves sitting for extended periods, with occasional walking and standing, and occasional domestic or international travel.

Work Environment

Hybrid work arrangement combining remote and in-office work. The specific arrangement will be determined at hiring and may be modified at the firm’s discretion.

Pay

The firm’s expected hiring range for this position is $100,787 – $160,255, depending on geographic location, experience, skills, educational background, and overall qualifications.
