About the role

The Infrastructure Core Services team at Jack Henry is dedicated to delivering compute, network, data, secrets management, and workload orchestration in the cloud. This team is instrumental in migrating workloads from on-premise data centers to Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, design, and build core infrastructure systems used by Jack Henry's development and engineering teams.
  • Debug critical production infrastructure issues impacting multiple sites and services, identifying root causes and preventing recurrence.
  • Focus on site state and health, ensuring workloads can be moved automatically to avoid failure.
  • Use software development expertise to build and enhance platform solutions that improve developer velocity and enable faster feature shipping for customers.
  • Work as a proactive collaborator and emerging leader, championing software engineering best practices and guiding other engineers in areas like design and coding standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand their priorities and emerging needs, prioritizing solutions that keep pace with product development.
  • Take ownership of complex technical challenges and drive them to completion.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in software development, DevOps, or Infrastructure as Code.
  • Hands-on experience deploying and managing containerized applications.
  • Practical experience in declarative service infrastructure environments, specifically using Terraform.
  • Experience in an AWS, Azure, and/or GCP cloud environment.
  • Programming experience in Go, Python, or Rust.
  • Experience designing and implementing monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or OpenTelemetry).
  • Familiarity operating in a Unix/Linux shell.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Proficiency building and scaling custom Kubernetes controllers and operators.
  • Experience managing production environments in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with Service Mesh technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
  • Experience with implementing and scaling relational databases, in-memory data structure stores, and streaming data pipelines (e.g., AlloyDB, Memorystore, Pub/Sub).
  • Familiarity with the left side of the Agile manifesto and operating within various methods of implementation.
