About the role
Pylon America is revolutionizing the mortgage industry by creating the first vertically integrated mortgage platform. Our mission is to simplify the complex process of mortgage origination into a single API, making it accessible and efficient for publicly traded companies and the largest originators in the country.
Responsibilities
- Design, monitor, and improve the infrastructure that ensures our systems remain highly available and processes millions of mortgage transactions.
- Build tooling and infrastructure to enhance developer productivity, reducing slow builds, flaky tests, and painful deploys.
- Maintain code quality, teach best practices, and mentor junior engineers to set the standard for how we build software.
- Work closely with the development team to identify and prevent issues before they occur, and respond quickly to any problems that arise.
- Provide instant feedback and support to ensure the codebase remains robust and efficient.
Requirements
- Experience with AWS, TypeScript, Graphite, Honeycomb, GitHub Codespaces, Temporal.io, and SQL (PostgreSQL).
- Strong understanding of observability and AI-driven development tools.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Proven track record of solving complex technical challenges and delivering high-quality results.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend infrastructure and development.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with GraphQL and AI-driven development tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Skills
- Proficiency in AWS services.
- Experience with TypeScript and other modern JavaScript frameworks.
- Knowledge of observability tools like Graphite and Honeycomb.
- Understanding of workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal.io.
- Experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
