About the Organisation

About the Role

Working within the Digital Infrastructure Team, the Infrastructure Engineer (Managed Print Services) is responsible for the implementation, administration, maintenance, and continual improvement of NHS Lanarkshire's Managed Print Service. The post holder provides specialist technical support for multifunction devices, print servers, print queues, secure printing, print management applications, and associated infrastructure, ensuring services remain available, secure, and aligned to organisational standards. The role contributes to service improvement, supplier management, and infrastructure projects while delivering excellent customer service across all NHS Lanarkshire sites.

The working pattern for this role involves shift work between 8am and 6pm. Overtime may occasionally be required outside normal hours and at weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance, advice, and support to all NHSL employees and approved third-party contractors to maximise the use of IT desktop infrastructure and maintain agreed service levels, control, and safety, either on-site or in the field.
  • Manage IT Service Desk calls, prioritising allocated work to meet departmental SLAs.
  • Maintain a high standard of customer service and manage user expectations to ensure mutually agreed resolutions to incidents.
  • Deal effectively with user complaints and escalate to line management where appropriate.

Requirements

  • Educated to or operating at degree level in a relevant IT discipline.
  • Experience in a desktop-related support role within an Information Technology Department.
  • Additional technical training and certification in relevant technical skills and products (preferred).
  • Experience in a health service environment (preferred).
  • Willingness to participate in the eHealth on-call support service, providing first-line support for 24/7 IT systems in NHSL.
  • A full UK/EU/EEA driving licence is required.
