Infrastructure Engineer

About the role

This is a professional and highly technical position responsible for maintaining, upgrading, and managing server infrastructure, software, hardware, and networks.

Responsibilities

• Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with industry standards and project/operational requirements.
• Oversees the administration, configuration, security, and lifecycle management of the organization’s Microsoft 365 environment to ensure reliability, compliance, and optimized user productivity.
• Daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs.
• Monitor daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate location and are recoverable.
• Repair and recover from hardware or software failures.
• Networking and Server Troubleshooting.
• Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities.
• Configure/add new services as necessary.
• Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies to develop, maintain, and test DR plans to ensure compliance with the Department’s DR plan.
• Research and recommend, innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
• Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
• Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.
• Contribute to and maintain system standards.
• On-Call rotation with other Infrastructure team members which includes after hours, weekends, and holidays.
• Perform other duties as required or requested.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and three years of related experience;
• OR, Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field and five years of related experience;
• OR High School Diploma with seven years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional certification (Microsoft);
• Experience with Virtualization, VMWare, Nutanix AHV.
