Overview
The successful candidate will bring dedicated Infrastructure as Code (IaC) expertise to the Enterprise Server team by building and maintaining automation for provisioning and configuration across the server environment. The engineer will develop and own GitOps-driven workflows, understand the broader IaC architecture, and help the rest of the team work effectively within it.

Qualifications
- Configuration management at depth using Ansible and/or Puppet, with Git as the authoritative source of truth (PR-based change control, CI/CD pipelines).
- Automated provisioning of virtual, cloud, and bare-metal infrastructure using tools such as Ansible or Terraform.
- Strong Linux server administration experience.
- Excellent scripting skills using Python, Bash, or similar to build and maintain automation.
- Experience building CI/CD validation for IaC repositories, including linting, syntax validation, test execution, and controlled deployments.
- Proficiency with Git-based engineering workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, code review, merge conflict resolution, release tagging, repository standards, and mentoring teammates in effective Git usage.
- Working knowledge of supporting infrastructure such as networking, DNS, shared storage, and identity management.
- Effective collaboration with engineers across disciplines and directly with customers, including researchers and other technical subject matter experts.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance.
- 5+ years of relevant infrastructure engineering experience, including at least 2 years building production Infrastructure as Code or configuration management automation.
Supplementary Skills
- Windows server administration experience.
- HPC and research computing experience.
- Familiarity with secrets management and identity integration.
- Experience in a regulated or compliance-driven environment (FISMA, NIST 800-53).
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware.
- Exposure to monitoring, backup, and data center operations.
- Broad software development background.
