About the role

Dev Technology Group is looking for an experienced Infrastructure Architect to support both Operations & Maintenance (O&M) and new development efforts for a federal government client. The ideal candidate will have relevant architecture experience, strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills, and an innovative mindset. Responsibilities

  • Assess existing cloud resources, determine changes needed to improve system performance, and make recommendations.
  • Provide guidance to engineers and developers based on best practices to ensure infrastructure supports fluctuating demands.
  • Work with government IT operations and other teams to develop strategies and action plans for implementing upgrades and integrations to program applications.
  • Periodic on-call support, shared across engineering team members.
  • Maintain and enforce logging, monitoring, and alerting.
  • Maintain architecture diagrams, runbooks, and agile metrics.
  • Analyze AWS cloud services to identify defects or suggest improvements to optimize performance.
  • Manage AWS resources in FedRAMP-approved GovCloud.
  • Engage stakeholders, understand their needs, and translate them into a minimum viable product.
  • Provide leadership for strategic planning or complex problem solving, including creation, maintenance, and governance of roadmaps.
  • Perform functional allocation to identify required tasks and their interrelationships.
  • Document performance criteria and testing strategies, quantifying results, trade-offs, and recommendations using a data-driven approach.
  • Review design documents to ensure compliance with industry and government standards.
  • Present architecture design documents to the client and revise based on feedback to obtain approval.
  • Maintain awareness and expertise in the latest cloud, infrastructure, orchestration, and automation visualization technologies.
  • Collaborate with specialists to successfully migrate applications and data to the cloud.
  • Drive innovation and improve performance of applications in scope.
  • Provide recommendations and implement ways to modernize technology to meet business demands cost-effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with eight (8) or more years of relevant experience in an Enterprise IT environment OR no Bachelor’s degree with ten (10) or more years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency designing and implementing Cloud-based AWS solutions.
  • Experience managing AWS resources in FedRAMP-approved GovCloud.
  • Excellent communication and active listening skills.
  • Ability to discuss technical issues with non-technical, executive-level government officials.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to develop solutions for complex business needs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline tools including configuration management, requirements (e.g., JIRA), automated testing, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of Windows and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration.
  • Applying The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) in Agile solution designs to minimize technical debt and improve velocity.
  • Writing/maintaining Infrastructure as Code with languages such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Designing logical and network diagrams.
  • Outlining evaluation benchmarks for system performance assessments.
  • Implementing technical architecture standards based on industry best practices.
  • Providing advice to project teams on technical solutions, best practices, and efficiencies.
