INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (PLCYPLN/INFOSEC).

About the Role

This is a mission essential position responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing information system security measures for all computers, electronic storage devices, and communication systems within the Department of the Navy.

Responsibilities

• Serve as manager and technical advisor on all areas of information system security.
• Recommend courses of action and policies to senior management to securely meet organizational goals.
• Oversee the certification and accreditation of all information systems and facilities.
• Ensure information security programs are implemented through development and promulgation of notices, policies, procedures, training, and awareness programs.
• Develop risk mitigation programs, action plans, and budgets to address risks identified during assessments and audits.
• Develop and maintain strategic plans, local policy, and guidance to govern IT activities.
• Serve as Systems Administrator by managing classified and unclassified accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

• Current federal employees must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
• Retired military members appointed within 180 days of retirement may be subject to specific provisions.
• Males born after December 31, 1959, must be registered for Selective Service.
• Must obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
• Position may require travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites, via military and commercial aircraft for extended periods.
• This is a mission essential position requiring continuity of operations or completion of tasks designated by local or command decisions.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes:

• Reviewing IT and control systems programs to assess overall compliance with cybersecurity plans, policies, and alignment with business and mission requirements.
• Maintaining an organization's cybersecurity program, including cybersecurity architecture, requirements, objectives, policies, personnel, and processes.
• Assisting in drafting, modifying, and maintaining an organization's core cybersecurity policies.
• Tracking and performing cybersecurity-related tasks associated with assessment and authorization activities for IT and control systems in accordance with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process.

Your experience must reflect skills in attention to detail, customer service, oral communication, and problem solving.
