About the role

We create the products and services that help our service members, intelligence analysts and first responders keep our nation safe. The work we do is so advanced, it’s often classified. In this role, you’ll maintain the organization's effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies. You’ll work with staff and customers to determine system requirements, ensure timely service delivery, and analyze information and technology needs to fulfill those requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related specialized area or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience to meet managerial expectations.
  • Ability to obtain a Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Solid understanding of solutions development methodologies (e.g., DevOps, Agile, Software Development Lifecycle).
  • Industry certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or PMI.
  • Experience with NIST 800.53 / 800.171 Frameworks.
  • Experience with Cybersecurity Operational Readiness Audits.
  • Experience with managing multi-site employees.

  • Advanced experience supporting critical application software (local, network-installed, and SaaS), including troubleshooting and maintaining procedural documentation.
  • In-depth understanding of internet configuration components (e.g., DNS, HTTP, IP addressing, subnetting) and file transfer methods (e.g., FTP, SFTP, FTPS, NDM).
  • Ability to work independently on large, complex projects using subject-matter expertise in Application Administration.
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to lead initiatives, handle multiple tasks, and deliver complex assignments under tight deadlines.
  • Track record of working with uncertainty, overcoming resistance, and converting challenges into actionable risk-mitigation strategies.
  • Excellent adaptability to changing business needs and obstacles.
  • Ability to mentor, guide, and coach junior application administrators.
  • Current application administrator or related technical certification is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Consult and collaborate with business stakeholders, end users, IT staff, vendors, and other third parties throughout every phase of an application’s lifecycle.
  • Ensure optimal configuration of the application layer for seamless integration with operating systems, databases, middleware, networks, web services, and other components.
  • Conduct application health checks to monitor accessibility, server availability, capacity planning, scheduled jobs, batch jobs, system alerts, and upstream/downstream feeds.
  • Perform operational support duties, including application maintenance, configuration, patch management, file transfers, performance tuning, account management, and software upgrades.
  • Respond to incident tickets, user inquiries, and service requests, updating records in the ticket management system.
  • Implement job automation, batch jobs, SQL scripts, robotic process automation, and AI/ML for troubleshooting and automating repetitive processes.
  • Engage with application vendors to stay informed about planned changes, known issues, corrective actions, and technical support capabilities.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, corporate policies, and best practices.
  • Maintain and update documentation for system configuration, change control, access control, system logs, and support.
  • Translate customer requirements, expectations, and operational imperatives into actionable requirements for continuous improvement of the user experience.
  • Mentor and support stakeholders in adopting applications by providing technical assistance, training, and guidance.
  • Lead, plan, and execute projects and small initiatives within the application team.
  • Maintain current knowledge of vendor plans, including patch releases, version updates, end-of-life support, and new enhancements.
  • Follow industry trends, evaluate vendor products, and pursue innovation to ensure cost-competitive, best-practice-aligned business services.
  • Lead medium-size projects and cross-functional teams.
  • Incorporate vendor updates, known issues, and corrective actions into solutions and documentation for administrators and end users.
  • Analyze and triage defects, plan releases, manage migrations, and institute regular upgrades and vulnerability remediation.
  • Lead large projects involving cross-functional teams and manage high-risk, high-profile, technically complex initiatives.
  • Some business travel may be required.

Pay

Target salary range: USD $142,696.00/Yr. – USD $154,401.00/Yr. This estimate represents the typical salary range based on experience and geographic location.
