Information Technology Intern

Non-Exempt, part-time, approximately 20-week fall internship at $15/hour.

About the role

The IT Intern will support the Information Technology department by assisting with the maintenance and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network systems. This role offers hands-on experience in a dynamic IT environment and provides opportunities to learn and contribute to various projects, including system updates, help desk support, and IT infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities

• First-level technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and networking issues.
• Assist with the setup, configuration, and deployment of desktops, laptops, and peripheral devices.
• Support routine maintenance of IT systems, including software updates, backups, and hardware checks.
• Help maintain inventory of IT equipment, including tracking and organizing hardware and software assets.
• Document technical issues, resolutions, and procedures for future reference.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree program with a regionally accredited institution.
• Must be pursuing or graduated with a degree in computer science, informatics, mathematics, cyber security, or a related field.
• A minimum of a 3.0 GPA on a 4-point scale at the time the application is submitted.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Must be able to complete and pass a background investigation, drug screening, and physical examination as per Federal, State, and GSP Airport District requirements.

Working Conditions

• Physical Demand: Little physical effort required. Some light lifting, carrying, walking, standing, pushing, pulling, stooping and kneeling requirements necessary up to 40% of the time. Sitting required 60% of the time.
• Mental and Visual Demands: Mental and visual demands vary with function performed. Consistent mental attention needed to monitor workflow and respond efficiently. Attentiveness to work procedures will reduce risk of minor injury in certain work areas.
• Exposed to normal office environment and limited industrial environment.
• Diligence must be exercised when handling confidential information.
• Reasonable care for equipment/process will prevent injury/damage.
