About the role
The Information Technology / Information Assurance Specialist II supports Special Access Programs for Department of Defense agencies, including HQ Air Force, the Office of the Secretary of Defense, and Military Compartments efforts.
Responsibilities
- Establish complex operational software configuration controls and system interfaces for assigned computer systems.
- Maintain file servers, firewalls, network access, security monitoring systems, and system documentation as required.
- Analyze and troubleshoot system anomalies to ensure optimum equipment performance.
- Prepare systems for operational use and support operational tests.
- Perform hardware and software system configuration, upgrades, and modifications.
- Perform system and network appliance patching activities.
- Provide government-issued laptop support.
- Review, prepare, and update authorization packages.
- Conduct the cybersecurity portion of the self-inspection checklist.
- Review and provide technical and cybersecurity coordination on all Bodies of Evidence that make up the authorization package.
- Identify vulnerabilities and implement countermeasures.
- Ensure information systems and network appliances are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies and practices.
- Provide external information system client support.
- Perform account creations, changes, and deletions across multiple authorization boundaries.
- Perform help desk and troubleshooting activities.
- Perform Video-Teleconferencing system administration, scheduling, and configuration.
- Affiliate with media control and accountability activities.
- Affiliate with COMSEC account and equipment management activities.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience; or Associate degree and 7 years of relevant experience; or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience: 5–7 years of related experience, including prior experience in roles such as System Administrator, Network Administrator, or Information Technology / Information Assurance Specialist.
- Certifications: IAT Level II or IAM Level II certification.
