Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) – Skill Level 2 with Security Clearance
About the role
The Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) will perform and review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities, non-compliance with Cybersecurity standards, and recommend mitigation strategies. They will validate and verify system security requirements, establish system security designs, and design, develop, implement, or integrate Cybersecurity and security system components across various environments.
Responsibilities
- Validate and verify system security requirements
- Establish system security designs
- Design, develop, implement, evaluate, and integrate secure networking, computing, and enclave environments
- Support security architecture development
- Enforce trusted relationships among external systems and architectures
- Assess and mitigate security risks throughout the system development life cycle
- Contribute to security planning, assessment, risk analysis, and risk management activities
- Support security authorization activities in compliance with NSA/CSS and NIST Risk Management Framework processes
Requirements
- Ability to participate as the primary security engineering representative on engineering teams supporting secure networking, computing, and enclave environments
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity policies, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop, and implement secure environments
- Ability to interact with customers and other project team members to support coordinated security engineering activities and project execution
- Ability to enforce trusted relationships among external systems and architectures
- Ability to support and provide security planning, security assessment, risk analysis, and risk management activities
- Ability to identify overall security requirements for the proper handling of Government data and recommend system-level solutions to resolve identified security requirements
- Ability to perform system and network designs that encompass multiple enclaves, including environments with differing data protection and classification requirements
- Twelve years of experience as an ISSE supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity, including recent experience within the last five years with Cybersecurity principles and technologies such as access control, authorization, identification and authentication, public key infrastructure, and network and enterprise security architecture, or sixteen years of ISSE experience if no bachelor’s degree is held
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university, or four additional years of ISSE experience may be substituted for the degree, and must be DoD 8570 compliant with IASAE II
- Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph is required

A variety of factors can impact the final salary offered, including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and wage rates, relevant work experience, specialized skills and competencies, education, and certifications.
