About the role
The San Joaquin County Information Systems Division (ISD) is recruiting to fill one full-time Information Systems Analyst IV - Security Analyst vacancy. This advanced-level position will play a key role in protecting County systems, data, and infrastructure by supporting major cybersecurity tools and initiatives. Potential new hires are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background investigation.
Responsibilities
- Provides highly advanced professional-level support for complex systems, networks, programs, and applications across multiple platforms; serves as database administrator on assigned systems.
- Designs and develops current or new systems; analyzes user operations and business requirements to create technology solutions; reviews and recommends third-party systems; develops data flow diagrams and program specifications; implements testing plans and quality assurance.
- Plans, develops, integrates, tests, and evaluates local and wide-area networks; determines system requirements; studies data integrity and security; monitors network traffic; implements connection strategies using routers, bridges, and gateways.
- Evaluates network protocols, hardware, and software for applicability to County needs; assesses new applications for integration with existing systems.
- Investigates, analyzes, and resolves network-related problems, including compatibility issues, failures, router problems, and telecommunications issues; recommends improvements.
- Analyzes network security and performance; identifies potential issues and designs strategies to improve security and performance.
- Performs database analysis, administration, and maintenance; supports IT staff in planning, designing, and implementing databases; modifies database structures, tables, files, views, and indexes; manages file space allocation; plans future storage requirements.
- Ensures database availability and security; controls user access; monitors compliance with operational and security procedures; optimizes database performance; conducts backups and develops data recovery strategies.
- Serves as project leader on components of information systems projects; analyzes client needs; recommends solutions; designs project plans and schedules; coordinates installation and evaluation of hardware/software; monitors budgets; directs project teams; provides status reports.
- Develops complex system documentation, instructional manuals, and training materials; identifies training needs; conducts training sessions for users and project staff.
- Attends professional meetings to stay current with trends and innovations in information technology.
- May provide functional or technical supervision over lower-level staff; assists in selecting, training, and evaluating assigned personnel.
Requirements
