Information System Security Officer (ISSO) - Temporary

About the role

The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support the 805th Combat Training Squadron at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, NV. This is a temporary position not to exceed November 2027, with the possibility of extension without further competition.

Responsibilities

• Manages all aspects of the 805th Combat Training Sq cybersecurity program across multiple platforms and classification levels.
• Exploits, integrates, and advances C2 and C4ISR systems and processes.
• Serves as a senior IT specialist and consultant to management in support of IT policy and plans.
• Monitors and evaluates systems compliance with IT security requirements.
• Provides advice and guidance on implementing IT security policies and procedures.
• Conducts security accreditation reviews for installed systems or networks.
• Recommends new or revised security measures and countermeasures based on accreditation review results.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship
• Top Secret/SCI clearance
• Knowledge of DoD 8570 01-M and other IT security policies and laws
• Knowledge of IT principles, concepts, and methods
• Understanding of the organization's policy and planning formulation process
• Experience with enterprise mission assurance support services (eMASS)
• Experience with OSCAL, Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, Xacta, DoD IAM Level II or higher baseline certification (CAP, GSLC, CISM, CISSP)

Qualifications

• Knowledge of budgetary processes and cost-benefit analysis methods
• Ability to prepare persuasive budget recommendations in support of IT requirements
• Experience with network operations and protocols
• Experience with systems testing and evaluation
• Experience with IT security requirements for certification and accreditation
• Desired experience with enterprise mission assurance support services (eMASS)
• Desired experience with OSCAL, Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST SP 800-37, NIST SP 800-53, Xacta, DoD IAM Level II or higher baseline certification (CAP, GSLC, CISM, CISSP)
