The Information System Security Officer position at NAWS China Lake (Ridgecrest, CA) requires a Top Secret security clearance. Work will be performed on-site.

About the Role

Support a high-visibility DoD program by shaping and enforcing information system security policies, standards, and methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Propose, coordinate, implement, and enforce information system security policies, standards, and methodologies.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments using automated benchmarks and tools like ACAS, STIGs, and SCAP Compliance Checker.
  • Implement operating systems and network devices security configurations in accordance with DISA-approved STIGs.
  • Perform security control continuous monitoring, review system security plans, conduct audits, risk analyses, and develop mitigation strategies for DoD information systems.
  • Identify Common Criteria and NIAP-certified technologies and the DISA Approved Products List (APL).
  • Prepare certification letters and MoAs with system owners for interface and networking implementations.
  • Provide guidance on cross-functional cybersecurity efforts, ensuring alignment with organizational and program goals and milestones.
  • Document Information System Authority to Operate (ATO) decisions, including SSPs, SOPs, POA&Ms, and Knowledge Articles.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and vulnerability analyses to identify and mitigate threats to satellite communication infrastructures.

Requirements

  • CompTIA Security + certification is required. Alternatively, one of the following certifications is required: CISSP, SecurityX (formerly CASP+), CISM, or GSLC.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of IA/CS and RMF DODI 8510.01.
  • Experience with security controls and implementation delineated in CNSSI 1253 and NIST SP 800-53, and JSIG.
  • Able to perform vulnerability assessments using ACAS, STIGs, SCAP Compliance Checker, incorporating automated benchmarks.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active DoD Top Secret clearance.
  • Selected candidates will undergo a government security investigation.

Pay

The anticipated annual salary range for this position is $115,000 - $135,000, commensurate with an individual’s experience, qualifications, and skill set.

Schedule

Work will be performed on-site at NAWS China Lake.
