Who are we?

The Security Services Department (SSD) of MIT Lincoln Laboratory is dedicated to protecting the laboratory's mission of developing game-changing technology in support of national security. We collaborate closely with research teams and government counterparts to ensure the safety and integrity of our facilities and information systems.

What will you do?

  • Aid in the security design and configuration of classified systems and networks in various environments.
  • Conduct security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a risk management plan.
  • Integrate, test, and configure Free and Open Source Software (FOSS), Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS), Government-off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and custom software.
  • Support the development of System Security Plans (SSPs) and related artifacts such as network diagrams, architectural plans, operating system baselines, and standardized configurations.
  • Provide input and direction within DevSecOps programs, including toolsets for SAST, DAST, dependency analysis, and application security assessments.
  • Lead efforts in Cloud and Cross Domain Solution technologies.
  • Analyze network, system, and application vulnerability scanning, configuration assessment, and remediation for improvement strategies.
  • Represent the Laboratory in interactions with multiple DOD agencies.
  • Prepare for technical aspects of periodic organization compliance assessments.
  • Conduct information security policy gap analysis and formulate corrective actions.
  • Create and update technical policies for configurations of security-relevant applications, aligning with organizational mission requirements.
  • Assist the ISSM team in compliance audits, system authorizations, sanitizations, and incident responses.
  • Support the Information Security Management in overseeing information security operations for Collateral systems.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/SCI clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or related discipline.
  • Active knowledge of NISPOM, DAAG, DISA Policy STIGs, and NIST RMF.
  • Technical skills in securing multiple traditional and virtual systems, including Windows Server 2016 and 2019, Windows 10, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ubuntu, Mac, etc.
  • Experience with Cloud and Cross Domain Solution technologies.
  • Experience developing and integrating Video teleconferencing, VOIP, firewalls, and VPN equipment.
  • Experience developing and integrating Data Loss Prevention strategies utilizing Endpoint Security solutions.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in presenting ideas both written and orally within a cross-functional environment.
  • Desired skills and qualifications include leadership experience, DoD 8570.01-M IASAE Level III baseline certification, ISC2 CISSP, experience with network environments, collaborative team experience, and prior experience with classified government networks.

Hiring Range

The Laboratory provides a typical hiring range as a good faith estimate of what we reasonably expect to offer for this position at the time of posting. The final salary offered to a selected candidate will depend on various factors, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, skills, and education/training, internal equity considerations, and applicable legal requirements. This range reflects base salary only and does not include additional forms of compensation or benefits. Selected candidates will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
