Location: Geisinger Medical Center Muncy (GMCM). Hybrid role with on-site work at GMC, GWV, GCMC, GLH, GSACH, GBH, GMCM, and GJSH. Scheduled weekly hours: 40.

Responsibilities
- Perform tasks related to project completion including analysis, training, testing, documentation, problem resolution, and implementation for laboratory information systems as a subject matter expert in assigned laboratory area.
- Provide input and assist in developing project plans.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of all laboratory information systems.
- Perform file maintenance and update software as requested.
- Verify that all data has been entered correctly.
- Provide Laboratory Information System, Laboratory Information Technology, and assigned laboratory area with support as appropriate.
- Assist in the testing and verification of software provided in periodic software releases for assigned lab area.
- Assist in the testing of any software changes prior to those changes being installed in the production area for assigned laboratory area.
- Aid in the verification of reports as to completeness and accuracy before releasing into the production area for assigned laboratory area.
- Assist in the development of ad hoc reports and dashboards as required; meet the requestors' needs in a timely manner.
- Assist in the monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting of instrument interfaces for assigned laboratory area.
- Perform frontline troubleshooting of peripheral devices and all applications for assigned laboratory area.
- Aid in the diagnosis and prevention of errors and notify the appropriate individuals.
- Assist in the development of Laboratory Information System policies and procedures for intra-departmental functions.
- Support the process of change control, maintaining required documentation and ensuring communication with lab and non-lab users of the Laboratory Information System and associated systems.
- Participate in computer orientation, training, and in-service programs for all levels of laboratory personnel.
- Provide similar services for other users as required.
- Participate in operational development ensuring trouble-free interfacing between the Laboratory Information System and other hospital and clinical information systems.
- Responsible for submission and leading of technical change requests for assigned laboratory area.
Work is typically performed in a clinical environment. Accountable for satisfying all job-specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university AND successful completion of an ASCP/NAACLS-accredited Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science program; OR
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND ASCP categorical certification; OR
- Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university with a major in biological, chemical, physical, or clinical laboratory science AND at least two years' experience in a role equivalent to that of a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) in a clinical laboratory.
Schedule
- Hybrid role with flexibility for IT work; on-site bench work primarily at GMCM.
- Day shift, typically 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM for IT work, with flexibility depending on location and bench work needs.
- Travel less than 25%, including bench work at primary location and ad hoc travel to other hospitals for projects.
- 50% of time spent in a hospital laboratory, which may include night/weekend/holiday rotation depending on need.
- Weekends are variable based on schedule for bench work; limited on-call/evenings/weekends for projects.

Experience
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience required.
- Experience in Epic Beaker and Geisinger Chemistry workflows and instrumentation preferred.
Certifications and Licenses
- Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist – American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
