Responsibilities
- Establish IT policies regarding operational procedures and ensure compliance.
- Work with outside vendors, upper management, and leadership of other departments to ensure smooth processes.
- Establish strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning.
- Plan and schedule project guidelines and goals while ensuring timelines are met.
- Monitor their organization’s networks for security breaches and investigate and remediate, including retraining, if violations occur.
- Install and use software, such as firewalls and data encryption programs, to protect sensitive information.
- Prepare reports that document security breaches and the extent of the damage caused by the breaches.
- Coordinate/conduct penetration testing to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities within their systems before they are exploited.
- Research the latest information technology (IT) security trends.
- Analyze IT requirements and advise on IT security requirements.
- Develop security standards and best practices for their organization.
- Recommend security enhancements to management or senior IT staff.
- Liaise with Legal, Privacy & Compliance, and other departments.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in information security (4-7 years relevant experience in IT).
- Proficient with Mac and OS; Windows environment is primary.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experienced with penetration testing and techniques.
- Ability to identify and mitigate network vulnerabilities.
- Understand patch management.
- Knowledge of firewalls, antivirus, and IDPS concepts.
- Experienced in installing security software and documenting security issues.
