About the Role

Mass General Brigham is seeking an Information Security Engineer III to serve as a senior leader within the Digital Information Security Architecture team. In this role, you will evaluate technologies, business initiatives, operational processes, and strategic projects to identify security risks and provide practical, risk-based guidance. You will collaborate with technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and security professionals to ensure security considerations are integrated into decision-making across the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze technologies, business initiatives, operational processes, and proposed solutions to identify security risks and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Assess unfamiliar technologies, platforms, and business challenges, understanding their security implications and translating them into practical guidance.
  • Apply cybersecurity principles, industry frameworks, and organizational standards to evaluate complex situations and recommend security controls.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security concerns and incorporate security into decision-making processes.
  • Research emerging technologies, threats, regulatory requirements, and industry practices to assess their impact on the organization.
  • Perform security reviews, architectural evaluations, and analytical activities to identify weaknesses and areas for improvement.
  • Develop clear and concise security guidance, recommendations, assessments, standards, and reports for stakeholders.
  • Communicate complex technical concepts, risks, and recommendations to diverse audiences, from engineers to executive stakeholders.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor, helping stakeholders understand cybersecurity risks and make informed decisions.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level team members, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; equivalent experience may be accepted.
  • 5-7 years of experience in systems engineering, security engineering, security architecture, or cybersecurity consulting.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and industry-standard security frameworks.
  • Ability to rapidly understand new technologies, business processes, and operational environments.
  • Experience with security assessments, architecture reviews, risk analyses, and technology evaluations.
  • Skill in identifying complex security issues and developing practical, risk-based recommendations.
  • Knowledge of enterprise technologies, including cloud platforms, identity and access management, networking, applications, and infrastructure.
  • Understanding of security concepts such as Zero Trust, least privilege, defense-in-depth, and secure software development.
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills for complex and ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to mentor junior engineers and lead cross-functional initiatives.

Additional Job Details

This is a hybrid role with onsite work required, based on weekly or monthly business needs. The schedule is Monday-Friday during Eastern business hours. On remote workdays, employees must use a stable, secure, and compliant workstation in a quiet environment, with Teams video accessed via Mass General Brigham-provided equipment.
