About the role

Our client, a family of SBA-certified Native American Tribal 8(a) companies, is seeking an Information Security – Declassification Specialist to support the USSOUTHCOM Headquarters Information Security Program. The successful candidate will perform classification and declassification activities, manage classified information, conduct security inspections, support foreign disclosure and industrial security programs, and ensure compliance with DoD and USSOUTHCOM security policies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support original and derivative classification activities.
  • Process Mandatory, Systematic, Automatic, and Ad Hoc declassification reviews.
  • Apply classification markings, redactions, and review classified documents.
  • Track declassification actions and coordinate with NARA and government agencies.
  • Maintain Security Classification Guides (SCGs) and classification records.
  • Conduct security inspections, assessments, staff assistance visits, and compliance reviews.
  • Identify security deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
  • Process and investigate security incidents.
  • Ensure compliance with DoD, USSOUTHCOM, and CUI requirements.
  • Prepare reports, briefings, and documentation.
  • Maintain classified material accountability and inventories.
  • Process courier requests and Defense Courier Service documentation.
  • Prepare classified materials for shipment and transportation.
  • Cook classified material destruction equipment.
  • Coordinate classified material destruction in accordance with DoD policy.
  • Support Two-Person Integrity (TPI) destruction procedures.
  • Support Industrial Security and NATO SECRET programs.
  • Aid with Foreign Disclosure, FLO/EXO, visitor control, and foreign access requests.
  • Support Physical Security and Personnel Security programs.
  • Maintain security databases, spreadsheets, and program records.
  • Deliver Security Education, Training, and Awareness (SETA) programs.
  • Conduct newcomer orientation, annual refresher training, and security briefings.
  • Track training completion and develop awareness materials.
  • Program Support
  • Maintain quality control processes and recommend program improvements.
  • Draft policies, procedures, and security documentation.
  • Cook with government personnel, contractors, and Intelligence Community partners.

Required Qualifications

  • Top Secret with SCI eligibility.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Security Management, Intelligence, Government, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience supporting DoD or federal information security programs.
  • Knowledge of: Classification and declassification processes, Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), Security incidents and compliance, Security Classification Guides (SCGs), Classified material handling.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting senior government personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting USSOUTHCOM or another Combatant Command.
  • Experience with SCI, SAP, NATO SECRET, CNWDI, RD/FRD programs.
  • Foreign Disclosure or FLO/EXO experience.
  • Defense Courier Service (DCS) experience.
  • Experience with NARA declassification.
  • Experience operating classified media destruction equipment.
  • Department of Energy (DoE) classification review experience.
