Information Receptionist
About the role
The employee will be assigned as an Information Receptionist/Inpatient Transporter at the LTC Charles S. Kettles VA Medical Center in Ann Arbor, MI. The employee will provide Veterans, patients, their families and visitors with staff who can respond quickly to inquiries, identify problems and improve the experience of those visiting the campus. The services are designed to respond to customer immediate needs including navigation, direction, and information assistance.
Responsibilities
- Offers directional assistance by escorting patients and visitors to and from their destination by walking, pushing a wheelchair and/or including driving the golf cart
- Provides a variety of information about the organization, its functions and activities
- Assists patients and visitors by answering questions and providing information on the organization, activities and personnel of the facility
- Assists patients with courtesy, empathy and friendliness
- Uses the computer, involving light typing, looking up patient appointment information and tracking information on databases and spreadsheets
- Stocks information desks with correct and clearly defined informational resources for the staff and patients
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one (1) full year of general experience, defined as progressively responsible clerical, office or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successful completion of two (2) years of education above the high school level in any field. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial or technical school.
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Combination of successfully completed post high school education and experience may be used to meet total qualification requirements.

Physical Requirements
- The employee is required to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time along with sitting at computer for extended periods of time to perform work.
- The employee may be required to push a wheelchair, bend or kneel to obtain information or assist patients.
- The employee is required to carry light objects such as files, clipboards, medical records, etc.
Schedule
Full Time - Monday - Friday 9:30am - 6:00pm
