The Information and Communications Technology Designer performs basic technical duties under the supervision of an Information and Communications Technology Senior Consultant or Project Manager. You will understand and identify project requirements and perform independent technical work on basic tasks within your discipline while coordinating production with your workgroup.

Responsibilities

  • Develops systems designs within your discipline with minimal supervision.
  • Performs site visits for surveys, progress inspections, and final punch lists as required by project timelines.
  • Prepares project deliverables per the client’s intent and scope of work in Stantec's proposal.
  • Follows Stantec’s quality management process; reviews project deliverables before submitting to QA/QC reviewer.
  • Actively participates in the engineering/professional community to build personal knowledge and professional growth (e.g., attend meetings, seminars, conferences, or write articles for trade magazines).
  • Meets or exceeds utilization goals and adheres to project budget.
  • Assists or acts as the project manager by:
    • Providing input or creating plans to complete tasks within the project timeline and budget.
    • Identifying required precursors from other disciplines in a timely fashion.
    • Creating detailed instructions, delegating tasks, and reviewing returned work to ensure timely execution of the project within budget.
    • Identifying and reporting potential roadblocks and competing client and co-worker priorities that may inhibit maintaining the project scope, schedule, and budget.
    • Developing an understanding of Stantec’s accounting and project management systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of ICT design principles for backbone and horizontal cabling and basic knowledge of practices and principles of other disciplines as they relate to ICT design.
  • Understanding of customer-owned outside plant pathway design.
  • Knowledge of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards and Building Industry Consulting Services International (BICSI) best practices.
  • Background experience and knowledge of Data Center Facilities.
  • Knowledge of nomenclature, design techniques, materials, details, system components, construction techniques, related Structured Cabling Systems, and building codes.
  • Able to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, specifications, technical procedures, and government regulations.
  • Proficient in applicable software (e.g., CAD, Bluebeam, and Revit).
  • Effective communication skills to convey scope and coordination items to clients, vendors, and co-workers.
  • Effective organization and time management skills with projects, reports, and other duties; manages multiple priorities effectively and is punctual and dependable.

Qualifications

  • Experience with ICT design within Mission Critical Facilities is preferred.
  • Accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum 5 years of related industry experience preferred.

Pay

  • Locations in MN, OH, VT, & Various CA, ME, NY, VA Areas: $90,900.00 - $131,800.00 Annually
  • Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD & Various CA, NJ Areas: $100,000.00 - $145,000.00 Annually
  • Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA, VA Areas: $91,200.00 - $132,300.00 Annually

In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec, certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
