Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Greet the general public, patients, and visitors.
- Answer general questions and direct accordingly.
- Answer phone and connect calls to proper patient or employee extension.
- Serve as a liaison with patients and central registration; direct patients to the registration desk as needed.
- Exhibit excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Demonstrate courtesy, compassion, and respect to others in adherence of the hospital's philosophy and policy for promoting positive work and customer environments.
- Operate a computer to locate patient information.
- Perform clerical duties for the Information Desk, including updating and maintaining patient census.
- Maintain a current knowledge of the Computerized Patient Information System.
- Keep abreast of changes in location for hospital departments; review changes as they occur or in order to provide current directions to patients and visitors.
- Locate wheelchairs as needed for patients or visitors entering the lobby.
- Escort patients and visitors to locations within the hospital as needed.
Training Responsibilities
- Train new volunteers assigned to both the Atrium and Garden entrance desks.

- Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services.
PRN Duties In The Gift Shop
- Help customers locate and purchase items.
- Exhibit excellent customer relations.
- Restock candy and other items as needed.
- Inflate balloons and maintain a nice display.
- Run cash register and take in money, credit cards, payroll deduction for purchases made.
- At the end of shift, replace drinks in the drink machine.
- Lock doors and close out the register for your shift.
- Count the money and make a deposit slip for the cash.
- Go to the computer and settle the credit card purchases.
- Fill out the paperwork for the deposit.
- Then go on the computer and post the sales for the shift.
- Put all paperwork and the deposit in Manager's office and lock the door.
- If you are the last shift, post the information for all 3 shifts.
- Lock the gift shop and turn off the lights.
- Take the keys to the switchboard operators.
