Infectious Disease Physician (Nursing Home)

About the role

We are seeking a Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Infectious Disease Physician (MD/DO) to deliver on-site infectious disease consultative services in skilled nursing and long-term care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex infections, oversee antimicrobial therapy, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and Advanced Practice Providers.
  • Provide infectious disease consultations for SNF/LTC residents.
  • Diagnose and manage complex infections including pneumonia, UTIs, bacteremia, osteomyelitis, wound infections, HIV, and viral hepatitis.
  • Direct antimicrobial therapy including IV and oral regimens.
  • Order, interpret, and act upon cultures, labs, imaging, and diagnostic studies.
  • Lead and support antimicrobial stewardship initiatives.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and facility clinical staff.
  • Advise on infection prevention, isolation, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensure accurate, timely EMR documentation in accordance with CMS and state requirements.

Requirements

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency.
  • Fellowship training in Infectious Disease preferred.
  • Active and unrestricted New York State medical license.
  • DEA registration.
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Infectious Disease.
  • Experience in SNF/LTC or post-acute care preferred.
