Job Summary: The Infection Preventionist coordinates the infection control program in the hospital. They are responsible for implementing and enforcing the program policies, coordinating all infection prevention and control activities, and facilitating ongoing monitoring of the effectiveness of prevention and/or control activities and interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Provides related education to staff, patients, and visitors as needed.
- Conducts rounding, audits, tracers, and just-in-time education.
- Performs daily surveillance and reporting.
- Participates in root cause analyses and strategic meetings regarding infection prevention initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in healthcare related field.
- Experience: 2 years working in an acute care facility or 2 years working in Infection Prevention in a non-acute care setting. 1 year working in Infection Prevention in an acute care setting preferred.
- Certifications: AHA BLS certification required. Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) within 2 years of hire.
