About the role
The Infection Preventionist will serve as the organization’s Infection Control Officer and be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the infection prevention program, including setting appropriate infection prevention goals and objectives for the organization.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage the infection prevention program
- Review and revise hospital policies and procedures
- Educate staff in the use of tools and techniques to reduce the risk of infectious diseases among patients, staff, visitors, and the community
- Create an Infection Control Plan and Risk Assessment
- Coordinate with Accreditation
- Collaborate with RRMC leaders
- Utilize quality improvement & project management tools and methods to plan, implement, and lead improvement projects
- Interpret and communicate data regarding the infection prevention realm
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Public Health, Nursing, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum Work Experience: 3 years’ experience in an acute care or post-acute care setting
- Infection prevention experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated experience using quality improvement and project management tools and methods
- Experience working with organizations such as Center for Disease Control, The Joint Commission and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
- Experience gathering and analyzing large and complex sets of data
Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams with positive results
- Knowledge of clinical terminology and clinical processes/practices
- Working knowledge with microbiology, asepsis, cleaning, disinfection, sterilization, education, and statistics
- Demonstrated working knowledge of universally accepted quality improvement methods and change management
- Strong Microsoft desktop application skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web browsers)
- Willingness and ability to utilize personal vehicle for work purposes
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to assess and analyze process and outcome information as well as the effectiveness of programs
