Infection Preventionist
Summary
Serves the Infection Prevention Program for the organization; serves as a liaison to all organization departments/services. Supports educational activities for Infection Prevention Liaison Committee.
Key Responsibilities

Conducts hospital and Nursing Home surveillance for HAI’s hospital onset and community acquired infections among patients and staff.

Analyzes, interprets and reports data to the Director, Infection Prevention and other appropriate departments or personnel (hospital and/or health departments).

Makes sure patient care activities are monitored and evaluated to identify infection risks.

Investigates clusters of infection in collaboration with Infectious Disease Physician and Director of Infection Prevention.

Develops, reviews, and revises infection prevention policies according to current standards of practice.

Notifies state or county health departments of specific communicable diseases as required by health department in accordance with RRH protocol.

Collects and enters data necessary for NHSN data reporting and other databases used in Infection Prevention.

Develops and assists in in-service programs related to Infection Prevention for the organization/departments/services for all hospital, Nursing Home services and all ambulatory sites.

Serves as a consultant regarding Infection Prevention issues and policies as appropriate.

Participates in hospital, Nursing Home and health system-based committees as appropriate.

Available for urgent/emergent phone consultation per schedule during off hours and weekends.
Desired Attributes

Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of previous hospital nursing experience.

Strong analytical, computer and communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing - Preferred

Minimum 3-5 years of previous hospital nursing experience - Preferred
Licenses / Certifications

BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association (AHA)

American Heart Association (AHA) - RN - Registered Nurse - New York State Education Department (NYSED)

$85,250.00 - $108,000.00
