About the role

Join Encompass Health, the nation's largest inpatient rehabilitation provider, as an Infection Preventionist / Hospital Educator. Your expertise will help ensure our patients receive the highest standards of care.

Responsibilities

  • Spearhead efforts to prevent and control infections, collaborating closely with the healthcare team to implement and monitor infection prevention practices.
  • Analyze hospital infection data to identify trends, clusters, risk factors and variances.
  • Manage hospital policies consistent with applicable infection control guidelines and standards.
  • Perform surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections.
  • Aids in coordination of clinical rotations and student orientation packet completion.
  • Trains staff in new hire orientation (departmental) and assists in general hospital orientation.
  • Aids in projects and audits.
  • Aids in staff training in QI certification and other required training.
  • Captivates and coordinates preceptor program.

Requirements

  • CPR certification required.
  • Current license or certification applicable to health-related field.
  • Completed post-secondary education in a health-related field including but not limited to medicine, nursing, laboratory technology, public health, or biology.
  • Previous experience as an Educator preferred.
  • Training in infection control and/or epidemiology.
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) preferred.
  • One year experience in a clinical setting in field of practice.
  • If Registered Nurse, CRRN certification preferred.
  • Experience in hospital infection control practice preferred.

Qualifications

  • Licenses or Certifications: CPR certification required.

  • Knowledge of infection control and epidemiology.
  • Proficiency in healthcare regulations and standards.
