Infant/Toddler Teaching Assistant - Part Time

About the role

Congressional School seeks a fun and dynamic individual to work as a full-time Early Childhood Teaching Assistant in our Infant/Toddler program. The individual should enjoy working with children ages 6 weeks to 2 years old. Our teaching assistants, along with our students, get to enjoy our 40 acre campus including our walking paths, creek, horses, swimming pool and dedicated playgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Join a collaborative classroom team and assist in planning and implementing the daily program
• Actively supervise the classroom and playgrounds
• Observe, interact, and engage with children
• Maintain proper adult to child ratios with each age grouping and classroom
• Monitor the playground and classroom at all times
• Help with meals and snacks
• Follow daily staffing schedule and assist other classrooms as needed

Qualifications

• Experience working with infants and toddlers
• Ability to lift or carry children weighing up to 25 pounds throughout the course of the day
• Ability to regularly bend, stoop and crouch in order to physically interact with children and ensure their safety
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with children, parents, and co-workers

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a child related field or a child development/early childhood credential (preferred)

Pay & Schedule

• Starting hourly rate: $17.00 per hour and up based on experience
• Work day: 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with a 1 hour break
