About the role
The Salvation Army’s Children’s Learning Center is hiring an Infant/Toddler Teacher. This position offers an excellent benefit package including generous paid time off, employer-funded pension plan, comprehensive health care coverage, and eligibility for supplemental insurance plans.
Responsibilities
- Work as a team to collaborate and communicate with parents, teachers, administration, and other employees at The Salvation Army.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and other meetings that arise.
- Develop and implement daily curriculum.
- Submit your curriculum to the Infant & Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher for approval at least two weeks before it is due.
- Foster a nurturing atmosphere.
- Assure that a method of positive discipline is used at all times.
- Make sure that all aspects of the classroom are running smoothly; transitions, routines, nap time, health and safety procedures, etc.
- Complete progress reports for each child.
- Meet with parents to discuss their child’s progress.
- Evaluate each child’s needs and set appropriate goals.
- Complete daily journals for each child-a brief summary of how they were each day.
- Maintain a safe, stable, and loving environment.
- Make sure the classroom is clean, the materials are stocked, and the door is locked at the end of each day.
- Observe the children in order to pick up on any developmental, emotional, or behavioral needs that may require special services or evaluation.
- Communicate with and brainstorm ideas with the Infant & Infant/Toddler Lead teacher to implement and address these needs.
- Complete referrals when needed.
- Supervise the volunteers, interns, and specialists in your classroom.
- Assist The Children’s Learning Center Administration and Salvation Army staff in ensuring that The Children’s Learning Center continues to provide a high quality program to the families we serve.
- Pursue activities to further your own professional development.
- Become familiar with and follow through with EEC regulations, center policy, and Salvation Army policies.
- Perform all duties in compliance with The Salvation Army’s policy and regulations governing staff and client relationships, hours of work, holiday and any other matters integral to the position.
- Represent The Salvation Army’s social mission.
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Work Experience: The Infant/Toddler Teacher must be EEC Infant/Toddler Teacher certified and have at least one year of experience as a lead teacher in a licensed center.
- Other Qualifications: Strong communication and organizational skills, flexible, self-motivated, high energy level, ability to collaborate with others and deal with conflict in a positive manner, maintain a positive attitude, open to change, non-judgmental about the families we serve, and support the mission of The Salvation Army.
