Position Summary
Ensures, supports, and promotes each child’s safety, health, and development in cooperation with their parents and other early childhood professionals in a manner consistent with the Head Start Performance Standards, USDA, and day care licensing regulations. Plans and develops a developmentally and culturally appropriate curriculum which meets the needs of the children and families.
Essential Functions
- Ensure the safety, health, and development of infants and toddlers in a nurturing, developmentally appropriate environment
- Plan and implement culturally responsive curriculum aligned with Head Start Performance Standards and licensing requirements
- Maintain a safe, clean, and engaging classroom environment; supervise children at all times
- Complete developmental screenings, observations, assessments, and individualized learning plans
- Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and specialists to support each child’s development
- Conduct home visits and parent-teacher conferences to discuss child progress and goals
- Participate in case management, staff meetings, trainings, and program planning activities
- Provide guidance, support, and direction to classroom staff, assistant teachers, and volunteers
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation and required program records
- Promote positive nutrition practices, health, and safety standards
- Support family engagement, communication, and parent involvement activities
- Maintain confidentiality of child and family information
- Respond appropriately to emergencies using First Aid and CPR; participate in drills
- Support transportation and field trip activities as required
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
Infant/Toddler Teacher E
- High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma de Educacion Secundaria or higher AND Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate within 6 months from date of hire OR One year Oregon community college certificate1 in field within 1 year from date of hire WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
Infant/Toddler Teacher C
- High School Diploma, GED, or Diploma de Educacion Secundaria or higher AND Infant Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate OR One year Oregon community college certificate1 in field WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
Infant/Toddler Teacher A
- Associate’s degree or higher in Early childhood education or child development OR Any field and coursework equivalent2 to a major relating to early child hood education or child development WITH training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
Infant/Toddler Teacher B
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early childhood education or child development OR Any field and coursework equivalent to a major relating to early childhood education or child development with training or coursework in early childhood development with a focus on infant and toddler development.
