Serving more than 850 children daily, PACCC offers developmentally-appropriate education and care for children from two months old through fifth grade at 18 centers throughout Palo Alto, 52 weeks of the year.

About The Role

We are seeking a highly qualified Infant Toddler Preschool Teacher to join our team at PACCC infant-toddler and preschool programs in Palo Alto. The role involves providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for young children (2 months to kindergarten entry) to learn and grow. Responsibilities include developing and implementing age-appropriate curriculum, assessing children's progress, and communicating with parents and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Fosters cooperative behavior through group and individual activities to help children form satisfying relationships with peers and adults.
• Supervises activities such as exploration, group discussions, and dramatic play to broaden children’s understanding of their physical and social environment.
• Encourages self-expression through singing, dancing, rhythmic activities, and art materials while promoting gross and fine motor development.
• Instructs children in practices of cleanliness and self-care.
• Alternates periods of strenuous activity with rest or light activity to avoid over-stimulation and fatigue.
• Observes children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and evaluates their progress.
• Communicates with parents about significant behaviors, recording and documenting actions, incidents, injuries, and health or behavior issues.
• Ensures safety and supervision of children at all times, including during off-site excursions.
• Able to safely lift 30 pounds from floor to waist level 10 to 15 times per day.
• Able to respond to a child’s needs within 30 seconds from 30 feet away without risk to personal health.
• Implements curriculum and assesses the development of each child with the teaching team.
• Provides a safe environment for all children at all times.

Requirements

• Completion of 12 semester units in Early Childhood Education (ECE), including Core units (Child Development; Child, Family, Community; Curriculum and Infant Development if working with infants/toddlers).
• Experience working with young children in a classroom setting.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

• Child Development Permit.
• Bilingual proficiency.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Experience with Reggio Emilia and/or Play-Based philosophy.
• Experience with technology integration in the classroom.

Additional Requirements

• Must be vaccinated for measles and pertussis; annual flu vaccine or signed declination form required.
• Must complete a pre-employment physical.
• Must pass a fingerprint background clearance check.

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week. Shifts are 8 hours long between 7:30 AM and 6:00 PM, including an unpaid meal break as required.

Pay

$26.19–$31.36 hourly wage.
