Infant/Toddler Director/Teacher
Position Information
The Infant/Toddler Director/Teacher will oversee the daily operations and strategic direction of the Baby PEACE Infant Toddler Center and Resource Hub, ensuring high-quality care and educational experiences for infants and toddlers. The Director/Teacher will report to the Advisory Board, and work collaboratively with families, school staff, and community partners to foster a nurturing and inclusive environment. Work hours will vary until September 2026 at which time, we anticipate the position to become full-time (30-40 hours/week).
Prior to hire, the Infant-Toddler Teacher/Director must complete criminal background screening, drug screening, the State of Michigan Licensing Background check and fingerprinting, and a TB test with physician’s signature.
Job Duties
- Oversee daily operations of the infant/toddler room, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
- Implement and monitor curriculum aligned with early childhood standards and trauma-informed practices.
- Ensure compliance with all licensing, health, and safety regulations.
- Supervise infant/toddler room staff/student/volunteers.
- Provide ongoing professional development and coaching in child development, trauma-informed care, and family engagement.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and performance evaluations.
- Observe and assess children’s development, behavior, safety and well-being.
- Develop individualized plans to support children’s growth, including those affected by trauma or family stress.
- Maintain accurate records of assessments, incidents, and progress.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with families, providing resources and support as needed.
- Communicate regularly with families about their child’s development, milestones, and any concerns.
- Facilitate family involvement in program activities and decision-making.
- Ensure all children receive appropriate care, including feeding, diapering, and rest.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and safety of the infant/toddler room.
- Respond promptly to emergencies, injuries, or illness, following established protocols.
- Collaborate with the Advisory Board to evaluate program effectiveness and implement improvements.
- Advocate for the needs of infants, toddlers, and their families within the organization and community.
