Infant Teacher Assistant / PCILA Teacher - Early Childhood Program

Summary of Main Responsibilities

  • Ensures compliance with CA Community Care Licensing Division
  • Maintains confidentiality and adheres to ethical conduct as outlined in the NAEYC Code of Ethics
  • Creates a professional relationship with teachers in the preschool classroom to work cooperatively as a team
  • Implements Developmentally Appropriate Practice daily
  • Supervises, maintains the health and safety of all children in the classroom
  • Promotes and builds positive, respectful professional relationships with parents and staff
  • Treats parents with respect at all times and encourages family participation
  • Encourages parents to participate in yearly program events by providing notices, and/or verbally inviting them to join the events
  • Understands and implements the Concerned Parent Procedure found in ECE handbook
  • Provides support to parents to resolve concerns before filling out forms
  • Creates and maintains an attractive, safe, and functional physical environment to enhance and promote learning
  • Supervises, maintains the health and safety of all children in the infant classroom
  • Aware of allergies, medical conditions, medications needed, and keeps hazardous materials away from classroom and children
  • Understands and follows ITERS/ECERS and CLASS procedures and guidelines on a daily basis
  • Communicates vital information concerning the health and safety of children, including serious medical conditions/illness to the immediate ECE Site Supervisor
  • Maintains proper hygiene of the children, equipment, and spaces
  • Notifies ECE Site Supervisor if and when equipment like tablets, walkie talkies or classrooms and outdoor furniture are in poor condition, in need of repair or need to be replaced
  • Creates intentional educational lessons on Class dojo as needed
  • Accommodates special requests from parents whenever possible
  • Prepares lesson plans for PCILAFacilitates PCILA, observing and guiding parents to participate in literacy building activities with children

Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience: Associate Teacher Permit or higher, minimum 6-12 Child Development (at least 3 infant toddler units) and 1+ years' experience with children 0-5 years old
  • Commitment to children and families
  • ITERS and CLASS experience desired
  • DRDP 2015 experience required
  • ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE experience desired
  • CPR and First Aid certification required

Physical Demands

  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds
